Indore: Owner of Sayaji Hotels, Roop Dhanani, was detained with cash stash worth Rs 12.5 lakh by Income Tax sleuths at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Wednesday. A senior officer of IT department’s investigation wing in Indore said that they were tipped off about a person travelling from Indore to Bhopal with black money.
The wing immediately informed their counterparts in Bhopal and informed them that the person concerned was to leave for Mumbai on a flight. The Bhopal team immediately rushed to Raja Bhoj Airport. However, by the time the team reached the airport, the flight had already left. They immediately alerted their counterparts in Mumbai informing them about Dhanani travelling with undeclared cash. Hence, as soon as the flight from Bhopal landed in Mumbai, the sleuths took Dhanani to a secluded place. After presenting him the warrant they sought sources of the money being carried by him.
