Indore: The Lokayukta police on Saturday raided nine premises of a sub engineer of the Indore Development Authority (IDA) and seized assets worth more than Rs 4 crore. The police also unearthed gold and silver worth more than Rs 37 lakh and Rs 35 lakh in cash from one of his premises. According to sources, the assets were disproportionate to the known sources of income of the sub engineer. Complaints of corruption were received against Gajanand Patidar, a sub engineer with the IDA, said DSP (Lokayukta) Pravin Baghel.
On the instructions of Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) Sabyasach Saraf, the team reached his house in Scheme No 78 Aranya around 6am when Patidar along with wife Savita was going for morning walk, he said. The couple was shocked to see the Lokayukta team. Officials showed warrant to them and started searching their house, he added. Nine properties belonging to Patidar were raided by 9 police teams in different locations, Baghel said. The police team found a total 15 properties (8 houses and 7 plots) during the search. A farm land in Gogawa area in Khargone district was also found. The verification of the properties was underway.
Papers for 26 properties recovered from Brother
The Lokayukta police raided residence of Ramesh Patidar, brother of Gajanand Patidar and recovered papers related to 26 properties, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) Pravin Baghel. Ramesh Patidar is a builder in the city. The police team also searched Gajanand Patidar’s office in the IDA and recovered some documents from there, Baghel said, adding that bank accounts and lockers will be searched on Monday. The verification of the papers was underway.
