Indore: Rohan Saxena removed from Swachh Bharat Mission

Indore: Four days after Mayor-in-Council member Dilip Sharma levelled allegations against Rohan Saxena, incharge of Swachh Bharat Mission at Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), the latter was stripped of the responsibility on Monday. An order issued by municipal commissioner Asheesh Singh stated that additional municipal commissioner Rajneesh Kasera would now look after Swachh Bharat Mission in the city.

During IMC council meeting last week, Sharma had said municipal officials specially Saxena were corrupt. Sharma had stated that IMC is doing a good job by maintaining cleanliness but the advertisement for tenders under Swachh Bharat programme were issued without his knowledge though he is incharge of advertisement cell.

When MiC member Santosh Gour stood up to reply to Sharma’s allegations, the latter pulled up the former saying how could he (Gour) have information about advertisement when he (Sharma) as incharge of advertisement cell did not the details.

Sharma demanded that Rohan Saxena should reply to the allegations levelled by him. But his request was rejected by IMC speaker Ajay Singh Naruka stating that there is no provision for officials answering to queries raised by corporators. After IMC council, mayor Malini Gaud, speaker Naruka,

three MiC members and 17 corporators had lodged a complaint with BJP city chief Gopi Nema alleging that Sharma had levelled allegations against IMC officials without evidence. They also objected against attack on fellow MiC members during IMC council meeting. Following the complaint, show cause notice was issued to Sharma and a three-member committee was constituted to probe the matter.

I left it: Saxena

Saxena rubbished reports that he was removed from Swachh Mission due to allegations made by Sharma. “The fact is that I requested commissioner to relieve me from the responsibility as Swachh Survekshan is over and now I want to focus on Smart City project,” said Saxena who held charge of Swachh Bharat Mission and Smart City project. Saxena may be right but the timing of his removal from Swachh Bharat Mission comes within days after Sharma’s attack on him.
