Indore: Policemen from Police Training College (PTC, Indore) played ‘Good Samaritans’ when they saved life of as many as 10 people after a fire broke out in a house in Sidhi district, about 750 kilometres from the city. A PTC policeman was injured while saving a 20-yearold girl stuck in the burning house. The brave policemen will be felicitated by senior officials of PTC. Superintendent of Police (PTC) Tushar Kant Vidyarthi said that 21 policemen from PTC were on the election duty in Singrauli district. On Tuesday, they were heading to Panna for election duty when they saw flames billowing from a house in Nibua village in Sidhi district.

The PTC SP said that the policemen stopped there and after hectic efforts of two hours, they rescued at least 10 people stuck in the burning house. They also took out their ration, bottles of kerosene, gas cylinder and other goods safely. As Nibua village is very far from the district headquarters, it was not possible for the fire brigade to reach the spot on time. The policemen informed the fire brigade and started rescue operation on their own risk. The SP said that they faced a tough situation in dousing the fire as hand pump, the only source of water available, was far away from the spot. The policemen fetched the water from the hand pump in buckets and put out the fire. Meanwhile, fire brigade personnel also reached the spot.

HEAD CONSTABLE SAVES GIRL

A tin shade fell on a girl when she was trying to untie a goat from a pole. Head constable Ajay Digar shielded and saved her life by taking the blow on him. Digar was injured while rescuing the girl. The policemen from PTC left for Panna when the local police reached the spot.

TEAM DONATES MONEY TO VICTIMS

The team of PTC policemen also helped the victims financially by donating them money. The team collected the money from the members who contributed their share to help the people who have lost their belongings in the blaze.
