Indore: Following the directives of State government, collector Lokesh Kumar Jatav has issued a notification proposing inclusion of two gram panchayats into the limits of Indore Municipal Corporation which may see elections at the end of the year.
A notification dated February 27, the collector stated that Bank and Nainod gram panchayats would be brought under the limits of IMC.
He stated that those having objections or suggestions should file the same with his office within 30 days. This would be second inclusion of new gram panchayats ahead of municipal elections. In 2014 also, 29 villages of 23 gram panchayats were brought under the IMC limits after court cases.
At that time, bank gram panchyat, is located on Dhar road, residents had also demanded to bring them into the IMC limits but as it was ruled by Congress the demand was not entertained due to political reasons.
Similarly, Nainod which was also ruled by Congress was also not brought under the ambit of IMC due to political reasons. But with the change in guard at the state, the ruling Congress has taken steps to included these two gram panchayats into the IMC limits.
Total area of Bank gram panchayat and Nainod gram panchayat is 471 hectare and 880 hectare respectively.
