Indore: Colleges spent day contacting and requesting students eligible for scholarships to apply immediately as a circular issued by department of higher rducation (DHE) on Friday stated that principals would be held responsible if the students failed to apply for scholarship by January 15.
After the circular was uploaded on DHE website, the colleges swung into action and started contacting students who are eligible for scholarships and have not applied online for availing the same. Students who could not be reached over phone were sent SMSes but their parents were also told to ask their wards to apply online for scholarships.
This all hullabaloo happened when the principals read one line of the seven-point circular, which stated that they would be held accountable on failure of students to fill scholarship forms within the deadline. The circular stated that the deadlines had been fixed for applications for scholarships and its disbursement.
“The applications will be accepted online till January 15 and disbursement of scholarship will be done by January 31,” the circular reads. It stated that the colleges should contact students over phones and inform them about the deadline so that they can apply online within the stipulated time limit. The colleges were also told to publicise government schemes like Gaon ki Beti, Pratibha Kiran meant for students’ welfare.
