Indore: The deadly H1N1 virus has been spreading its tentacles silently in the city as six more patients have been tested positive on Thursday. Moreover, sample of a pregnant woman, who died at Apple Hospital on Wednesday, too tested positive with which the total number of deaths in city reached to 18.

According to Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Pravin Jadia, “We received six reports of patients who tested positive with which the total number of positive cases was pegged at 62. Samples of the woman, admitted in Apple Hospital, were sent for testing on February 25 as she was admitted on February 24. She succumbed to the disease on Feb 27 and her samples were tested positive on February 28.”

Family members of patient Amrita Chouhan, resident of Scheme No 78, had created ruckus in the hospital after her death alleging medical negligence on the part of hospital and doctors. The patient was pregnant and had conceived twins.

According to Anil Chouhan, brother of the patient, “My sister was admitted to the hospital on Saturday due to some breathing problem. Doctors told us that she needed to be kept on ventilator for two days and took over Rs 1 lakh from us. On Wednesday, they told us that the patient had succumbed to pneumonia.”

“We wanted the doctors to abort the fetuses but doctors’ negligence killed my sister,” he alleged. However, family members didn’t lodge any complaint against the hospital.
