Indore: Pot bellied cops aim at body shaping

To keep policemen stressfree and fit, police department set up a gymnasium and an RO plant in DRP Lines on Sunday. A health check-up camp was also organised for police officers. ADG Ajay Sharma and his wife inaugurated gymnasium and RO (reverse osmosis) plant. ADG Sharma said police officer’s job is challenging and hectic because of which we cannot focus on our health. “To keep diseases at bay and remain fit, we must exercise regularly.

Gymnasium has been set up where officers can exercise regularly,” he said. Sharma said many diseases are caused due to contaminated drinking water. The RO plant will provide safe and clean drinking water to police officers and their families living in DRP Lines. Superintendent of Police (west) Siddharth Bahuguna said equipment worth Rs 5 lakh was installed in the gymnasium and the RO plant also costs about Rs 5 lakh.

Police constable and body builder Motilal Dayma said people working in any field go through stress in their lives but police officers work under stress every day. Exercising on a regular basis acts as a major stress-buster. A healthy body helps in achieving a healthy mind. “We must exercise for 45 minutes everyday. City police officials are planning to open gymnasiums between three to four police stations for easy access.

During the free health check up camp, doctors checked blood pressure, blood sugar, ECG of police officers. Free medicines were also provided. Besides, a rangoli making competition was organised for family members of police officers following which top three winners were felicitated.
