Indore: With the arrest of a man on Tuesday, city police claimed to have solved a case of abduction, rape and murder of a five-year-old girl. The accused had abducted the girl while she was sleeping with her parents and brutally raped her before strangulating her to death. The accused then dumped the body in a well.According to police, accused Nandu Gamad (30), a resident of Jhabua, was arrested on Tuesday after sustained interrogation. “We had detained over 150-200 people residing in 1-2 kilometre area of the crime scene. During sustained interrogation, Nandu broke down and admitted his crime,” said Additional Director General Varun Kapoor said.
The accused is neighbour of the deceased and he abducted her under the influence of liquor. “The accused was drunk when he abducted the girl. He took the girl to a farm few meters away from the girl’s place and raped her there by shutting her mouth by his hand. After raping the little girl, the accused strangulated her with the thread tied on her neck in the fear of his identity got revealed,” the ADG said. Later, the accused dumped the body in the well located near the scene.
Body of the girl was found in a well near ESIC Hospital on Monday noon. She was abducted on Sunday night while she was sleeping outside her hut with her parents near the hospital. The abduction was discovered when her father woke up in the night to drink water and did not find his daughter on the bed. Parents reported the incident to police after failing to find the girl. A team for over 150 cops were involved in investigating the case and police had also searched the CCTV footages of the area.
