Indore: Started in September 2018, i-smart card facility in iBuses that ply along Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor has become quite a fascination for commuters. Over 60,000 people commute in iBuses everyday. Of the total, 5, 527 have already switched to using i-smart card.
The facility is doing more than easing transport. It is giving a smart city feel to many commuters. “I travel to many countries for work and I remember such a system in European trains and tramps,” marketing executive Sonal Gangwani said. She prefers public transport as it is better for environment and is comfortable.
“I lose temper in car when people don’t follow traffic rules. So, I commute in iBus whenever possible,” Sonal said.
Another commuter and homemaker Rakhi Jaisinghani said, “Cards make me feel really smart and are easier to use than tokens.” She finds it convenient and easy to swipe. “Plus, it saves me from carrying change all the time while travelling,” Rajni said.
Sharing his experience, assistant manager Gopal Gupta said, “A passenger swipes the card and directly enters the bus station, while I stand in queue at bus stop. This is what happened today.” He was convinced to opt for the card and immediately bought one at the station.
