While that BJP has delayed name of candidate for Indore Lok Sabha seat, Indore-2 assembly constituency MLA Ramesh Mendola does not think so. “The voting for Indore LS seat is to take place on May 19. So, the party has enough time to declare name for Indore seat. There is no delay in declaration of candidate for Indore,” Mendola told reporters on Saturday.
To a query if he would be granted ticket for Indore seat, Mendola stated that the party would give ticket to the person it would find fit to contest election.
Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan has been representing Indore since 1989. The eight-time MLA wants ticket for the ninth as well but the party seems to be unwilling to filed her again as she has crossed the age of 75. BJP state president Rakesh Singh had recently signalled that her ticket could be cut with saying that the party would decide ticket of Indore by consulting her.
However, Mahajan is confident of getting ticket again. She is also holding meeting with party workers asking them to ensure that BJP wins Indore seat again. Mendola said that they are working party symbol and not any candidate as of now. “Once the candidature is announced, we all start working for both the party and the candidate,” he stated.
