Indore: Outstation students from districts including Gwalior, Bhopal and Sagar fear missing opportunity to cast vote as Devi Ahilya Viswhavidyalaya (DAVV) has fixed their exam commencement date on May 13, a day after polling in their receptive areas.
Voting in eight districts including Bhind, Morena, Gwalior, Guna, Bhopal, Rajgarh, Vidisha and Sagar will be held on May 12. And MCom fourth semester exam will be conducted by the DAVV on May 13. Many students from these districts study in colleges in and around Indore, the educational hub of the state.
On the eve of exam commencement, they will not be able to go to their home towns to cast vote. “The university is commencing exams on May 13. No way, I will be able to go cast vote in the election, this time. I wanted to go to exercise my franchise but the university left us with a tough choice,” said a student, a native of Bhind, wishing anonymity.
Another student from Vidisha, said that they understand the importance of elections but for them career is more important. The student stated that why exam time table was not prepared keeping outstation students in mind. Exam controller Ashesh Tiwari stated that no complaint on exam time table has been received so far.
