Indore: On the second day of the 30th Road Safety Week, Indore traffic police conducted various seminars, competitions, eye check up camps and traffic rules awareness drive across the city on Tuesday. DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra presided over a seminar at a private city college where he educated 1000 college students and staff members about various traffic rules to be followed for ensuring their safety.
An awareness programme and street play was also conducted by members of Eicher Group and RI Group. Under the Road Safety Week, a painting competition was organised for students of 39 schools at Traffic Park. About 1200 students from classes VI to XII painted on various aspects of traffic and its management.
Additional Superintendent of Police (traffic) Mahendra Jain and Deputy Superintendent of Police RS Thakur along with team of pollution control department inspected 54 vehicles for their emissions at Radisson Square. Traffic police installed posters and banners on several autorickshaws at Regal Square.
National Service Scheme (NSS) members of Gujarati Commerce College wore safety jackets and helped traffic police in maintaining city traffic at various areas in the city. A free eye check up camp was conducted for drivers at Gangwal Bus Stand. About 158 drivers were inspected during the camp.
More street plays for increasing awareness regarding traffic management were organised at Bhanwarkuan Square, Mhow Naka and Rau Square. Traffic cops also conducted driving training sessions for drivers near Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Nanda Nagar area.
DSP (traffic) Umakant Choudhary said that on Wednesday a quiz contest for school and college students will be organised at Abhay Prashal from 10 am to 2 pm. He added that along with Department of Weights and Measures the meters of public transport vehicles will be checked at Palasia and some other areas.
