Indore: With an aim to provide safety and quick response to women in trouble, Indore police started women help desk at every police station in the city on Friday.
Indore police aim to create a zero tolerance environment for crime against women for which each station will have a help desk headed by a woman sub inspector.
Instead of sending victimised women to mahila police station, the help desk will record their problem and arrange a counselling session with their family members if needed. Only in heinous crime cases will the victim be sent to women’s police station. This will ensure that women will not have to go women’s police station for small problems.
Family counselling centres at sub divisional levels
Police will also set up family counselling centres at sub divisional offices of police department. A three-member team, which will include non-political people, former government officials, teachers, advocates, social workers and representatives of NGOs working for women. The team will call victims and their family members for counselling on two days in a week. In case of serious crimes, the centres will inform concerned police stations to register a case in the incident.
