Everything is fair in war and elections. It appears local Congress leaders seem to be following it in earnest.  In an obvious reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, city Congress leaders Vivek Khandelwal and Girish Joshi pasted stickers carrying slogan, ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ on Indore-Gandhinagar train, Indore-Ratlam train, Demu train and Indore-Pune train on Wednesday.

They began pasting posters on train from railway yard in Mhow and later reached Indore railway station to repeat the act. Both Congress leaders took photographs and shot videos of their act before leaving the station. Challenging model code of conduct, the party leaders also pasted stickers having photos of Rafale, All India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi on the trains. The two Congressmen fled when railway police tried to nab them.

Talking to media, Khandlewal said, “A scam of Rs 30,000 crore in Rafale deal surfaced during Modi-led government, which was raised by Rahul Gandhi. We are pasting posters to inform people about the scam.” He said they will paste 5,000 stickers on trains to spread the slogan, ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’, among masses. When told it is violation of model code of conduct, Khandelwal said they are ready to face any action against them.

Accused booked by railway police
Railway police have registered a case under Section 147 (without ticket) and 166-B (damaging railway property and illegally pasting material on railway properties) of Railway Act against Joshi and Khandelwal. “We are verifying their addresses and on Thursday, the summons would be sent to their residential address to be present at RPF city police station,” Jitendra Kumar Jayant, PRO Ratlam railway division, said. He said a letter was sent to Election Commission and district election office in this regard.
