Indore: Nearly a fortnight after BJP Bhopal candidate Sadhvi Pragya Thakur dubbed Nathuram Godse a patriot during Lok Sabha polls, Mhow BJP MLA Usha Thakar here on Wednesday followed suit terming the killer of Mahatma Gandhi a nationalist. “He was a nationalist,” she told a news channel while replying to a query regarding what she thought of Godse – a nationalist or an anti-nationalist.
Earlier, Pragya Thakur during Lok Sabha elections had said, “Godse was a patriot, is a patriot and will remain a patriot”. When BJP MLA’s response was sought on Sadhvi’s comment, she said party organisation has already cleared its stand on the matter. “The party has already stated that it was Sadhvi’s personal views, which it does not support,” Thakur remarked. However, when her view was sought on Godse, Usha Thakur said, “I believe that a person who remains devoted to nation all his life can know better what circumstances made him (Godse) to take such a decision (to shoot Gandhi to death). I should not comment on that subject.”
