Here is good news for residents facing power cuts in the name of line maintenance works.  Following directives given by state government, Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (west discom) has stopped disruption of power supply for maintenance works.

The company won’t issue permits to contractors for disrupting power supply in the name of electricity line maintenance or pole installation works.  The decision was taken as residents of several areas complained of one to four hours of power cuts in name maintenance work. From March 1 to 19, power supply remained disrupted in many zones.

On receiving complaints, public representatives forwarded them to Congress-led state government. The government held a meeting with discom officials and directed them not to disrupt power supply until there is emergency.  The government was forced to issue this direction as BJP was claiming that the power cuts have returned to state ever since Congress came to power. As per information, discom has been directed to stop power cuts till Lok Sabha election gets over.
