Indore: After two rounds of centralized online admission counselling, merely 42 per cent of seats have filled in BEd colleges here even as the registrations for the final round began on Thursday. Citing poor admission scenario, the colleges demanded college level counselling (CLC). “Out of 3,500 seats in 33 BEd colleges in the city, 2018 seats are still lying vacant after the two rounds of counselling,” said Indore Mahavidyalaya chairman Girdhar Nagar.
That means only 1482 students took admission in the colleges here. These figures surfaced when MPOnline, a service provider of the state government, released list of vacancies at BEd colleges across the state for the third round of counselling. BEd colleges held Department of Higher Education accountable for poor admissions. “Centralised online counselling is a damp squib. The DHE should allow colleges to hold CLC for filling the vacancies,” said Comp-feeders college chairman Awadhesh Dave.
Matushree College chairman Rambabu Sharma also echoed the same thoughts. He stated that even if the DHE would have provided contact details of the students they would have ensured that they take admission in colleges allocated to them. CET likely on June 23 Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) may have to hold common entrance test (CET) on June 23, the date decided initially.
