Indore: NCC campus to be shifted in 15 days from MGM

Indore: District Collector Lokesh Jatav on Monday directed district administration officials to clear the “encroachment” at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College premises at the earliest so that pending development work could begin. In a meeting held at MGM Medical College on Monday, Brigadier of NCC also took part and it was decided that a new place will be allotted to NCC.

According to sources, district administration officials have suggested NCC campus be shifted in Gyan Ganga Parisar, Ahilya Ashram or in Malhar Ashram. “Final decision over the same couldn’t be taken yet as NCC officials will visit the places and appropriate place will be allotted to them,” sources said.

College has asked NCC to vacate the place in 15 days for the development of super speciality centre as staff quarters will be developed at the same place. Meanwhile, Dean of MGM Medical College Dr Jyoti Bindal said, “We have given time to the residents and employees to whom houses were allotted by the college, to vacate the houses by January 24. We will not extend the time and action will be taken after the deadline,” she added.

Additional Chief Secretary of Medical Education Department Radheshyam Julania had directed the administrative officials to initiate encroachment removal at the earliest, in a meeting held on Sunday. A 210-bed super speciality centre is being developed in MGM Medical College premises and the ACS said that work for the centre will be completed by March 2020.
