Indore: Municipal Corporation to collect Ganesh idols for eco-friendly immersion

After a 10-day festival of Ganeshotsav, which began on September 10, ‘Ganpati Bappa’ will say goodbye to devotees on Anant Chaturdashi i.e. on Sunday.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): For protecting water bodies from getting polluted because of immersion of Idols, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has planned eco-friendly immersion, like every year.

The IMC has also urged citizens of the city not to immerse Ganesh idols in the city lakes.

After a 10-day festival of Ganeshotsav, which began on September 10, ‘Ganpati Bappa’ will say goodbye to devotees on Anant Chaturdashi i.e. on Sunday.

Like every year, the IMC has made arrangements, this year too, to collect the idols from citizens at 85 points in the city. Besides, the idols will also be collected at 19 zonal offices.

According to IMC officials, a separate basket would be put at idols’ collection sites, in which devotees can put garlands, cloths, fruits, flowers etc.

The IMC will perform a mass immersion of Idols at Jawahar Tekri.

Apart from this, the IMC has also made artificial pools at various places in the city, where citizen can immerse the idols made of clay and soil. But, the Idols made of PoP will only be immersed at Jawahar Tekri.
