Indore: Madhya Pradesh government will start implementing the farmers’ loan waiver scheme from February 22 and more than 92,000 farmers of Indore will be felicitated. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Madhya Pradesh Congress’ spokesperson Santosh Singh Gautam said more than 25.50 lakh farmers from across the state will be benefitted by the scheme.
“Farmers’ loan(s) up to Rs 2 lakh will be waived off and the benefit of the scheme to the farmers were started when Chief Minister Kamal Nath signed the papers just after forming the government. Now, it the matter between the state government and the banks,” he said.
Gautam added that out of 25.50 lakh farmers benefitted in the first phase includes 10.30 lakh famers are those who have active loan account and 15.20 lakh farmers are those whose loan account has come into non-performing asset (NPA) category.
“Loans of Rs 11000 crores will be waived off in the first phase across the state. Total 50 lakh farmers will be facilitated with the scheme and load of Rs 40,000 crores will be waived off in the first and second phase,” he said. On the question of ill treasury of the state, Gautam said, “The government will fix the budget of loan waiver in the annual state budget and it is like an investment for the government in agriculture sector.
Training his canons on former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who recently questions the availability of funds of waiving off loans, Gautam said, “It was Shivraj Singh Chouhan who left the state with the debt of Rs 1.97 lakh crores. His corrupt policies have left the state in poor condition and now Kamalnath is trying to bring it in better position again.”
DIGVIJAY SINGH IS ADVISOR FOR US Commenting on the statement war between Digvijay Singh and Umang Singhar, Gautam said that Digvijay Singh is advisor for all of us. “We are not in the party of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah where those speak against them would be suppressed.
We have different opinions but have same aim which is welfare of the people,” Gautam said adding “No clean chit has been given to BJP and his leaders on the scams they did including e-tendering, Simhastha or plant saplings on the banks of Narmada River.”
