Indore: City crime branch on Wednesday arrested a manager of a multinational company for creating fake profile on Facebook and sending obscene posts and messages for sales manager and a woman employee to defame them. The accused was handed over to Lasudia police station staff for further action. Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said 41-year-old sales manager of a well-known electronics company had lodged a complaint that an unidentified person created fake Facebook profile using his photos. The accused posted obscene posts mentioning that sales manager and a woman employee are in relationship. Accused also sent emails to senior officials and other employees to defame sales manager and woman employee.

The accused also mentioned that woman wanted to get higher position in the company so she started a love affair with company sales manager. A team of crime branch was instructed to investigate the matter and to arrest the accused. During investigation, it was revealed that the sales manager and woman employee are married. Crime branch team came to know that the fake email ID and Facebook profile was created by an employee of same company. Later, team arrested Anand Astekar, a resident of Mahalaxmi Nagar. He is employed in the same company as a manager. Accused was booked under Sections 419 of IPC, 66, 66-C, 66-D of IT Act. The woman employee told police that an unidentified person had earlier created a fake profile on Facebook and tried to defame her and sales manager but she didn’t lodge complaint with police.
