Indore: A man was arrested by city crime branch for supplying cannabis in the city on Sunday. The accused used to bring cannabis from Khargone to supply it in the city and other places. Rs 60, 000 in cash was also recovered from him. Acting of a tip-off, joint team of crime branch and Pandharinath police station arrested a person while he was roaming in the area to deliver the cannabis to “someone”. The accused was identified as Akhilesh Verma of Ashta in Sehore district. During search, five packets of cannabis and Rs 60,150 was recovered from him.
Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said accused confessed to supply cannabis in the city and other places. A case under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and he is being questioned further. Accused told the police that he is a farmer and indulged in supplying cannabis for about six months. He used to bring cannabis from the rural areas of Khargone to supply the same in the city, Dewas and Bhopal. He used to supply cannabis to many people at their homes. So far, police have recovered cannabis weighing around 10 kg from him. His source and the people whom he supplied cannabis to are also being tracked by the crime branch.
