Indore: Malwa, Yashwantpur Express flagged off

Indore: The starting point of three trains has been extended to Mhow. In line with railway’s decision, Malwa Express was flagged off from platform number one on Sunday.

Dhar MP Savitri Thakur flagged off the train as Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan could not make it. Ratlam divisional railway manager RN Sunkar and Mhow MLA Usha Thakur were special guests at the function.

Weekly Yashwantpur Express was also flagged off from here on Sunday evening. Bhopal Intercity Express will start running from Mhow on Monday morning. Along with this, foundation laying function for double railway line project was also organised.

Savitri Thakur unveiled the foundation stone in presence of DRM RN Sunkar, BJP leaders and workers and railway employees. She said facilities at Mhow railway station are increasing and it will become an important station of Ratlam division in near future. She praised the heritage train project started between Mhow and Kalakund and said it opened new employment opportunities for local people.

DRM RN Sunkar said double line project between Rau and Mhow stations will prove to be another milestone in the region as this will increase number of trains and their speed. He said Rs 85 crore will be spent on 9.51-km rail track.

The length of platform number 1 will increase for which the work has already started from GRP chowki. The platform will be given shape of Ambedkar memorial. Four new transparent coaches for heritage train will be built in Mhow in association with firm. The exercise is aimed to draw more tourists.
