Indore: Lokayukta nabs education, health dept officers for accepting bribe

Mhow/ Badnawar: Indore Lokayukta sleuth on Tuesday nabbed education department official in Mhow and block community mobilizer posted at Badnawar situated community health centre for accepting bribe. In Mhow, team of special establishment police nabbed Mukesh Verma (50), an accountant at Government Higher Secondary School, Kodariya who was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from retired teacher Kamal Kishore Soni in his office, Indore Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Praveen Singh Baghel said, “Verma had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh for sanctioning Rs 4.71 lakh to Soni, this amount being the encashment of 207 leaves of the latter.

A trap was laid and Verma was caught while accepting an instalment of Rs 50,000,” Baghel informed. Verma has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further probe into the case is underway, Baghel said. In Badnawar village of Dhar district, Lokayukta team trapped BCM Ravi Sen posted at community health centre for accepting bribe of Rs 7,000 from the complainant. Lokayukta TI Sunil Vikey informed that four days back an ASHA worker Megha Joshi lodged complaint accusing Sen of stopping her and four other ASHA workers salary and now demanding Rs 1,000 each from them. Complainant was asked to bring voice recording to substantiat her acquisition against Sen.

After she submitted proof, Lokayukta team laid trap and caught Sen red-handed. As soon as Sen put money in his pocket, Loyakuta team caught him. Intially, Sen failed to respond. Complainant Joshi informed that Sen was demanding money from her along with Rukhma Choudhary, Parvati Batham, Savita Bhati and Dali Parmar to release their seven months salary. Sen was recently transferred to Badnawar from Tirla block.

Currently 160 ASHA workers are engaged here in Badnawar and sources claim that Sen was charging Rs 200 monthly for each workers file. Apart from that, he was demanding bribe to release their salaries and if anyone failed to fulfill his demand, Sen stopped her payment. When contacted chief block medical officer S Mujaldey to get his comment on serious allegation leveled on Sen, he claimed that he is completely unaware of the entire incident. At the time of Sen’s arrest, I’m was in the OPD and checking patients there, he added.
