Indore: Acting on Centre’s directive, a mega MSME outreach camp was organised in the city on Monday wherein loans worth Rs 1,658 lakh were given to beneficiaries. Pravin Garg, additional secretary in union ministry of environment and forest, was chief guest at the event. Atanu Kumar Das, executive director of Bank of India, was special guest.
With an objective to help MSME units, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 100 days of MSME support and outreach programme on November 2 last year. A distinct feature of the programme is sanctioning loan to MSME units in 56 minutes. For this, a portal was launched where MSME units can select the bank of their choice and get loan.
Addressing the function, senior IAS officer Garg highlighted importance of banks’ role in development of MSME sector. Das briefed about loan in 59 minutes scheme and said bank has achieved the target in Indore region. Mukesh Bhatta, lead district bank manager, said disbursement letters doe loan worth Rs 1656 lakh were given to 239 beneficiaries.
