Indore: Land worth crores led to Shivjiram’s murder

Police on Saturday arrested two brothers for killing a man in Betma area over a land dispute. They first abducted the man and attacked him with a heavy object. Further investigation is underway into the case.  Sixty-year-old Shivjiram Patel of Chhota Tigaria, Dewas, went missing when he was returning from Nalchha on Thursday evening. Police came to know about incident at 6.30 pm when police team started searching for Shivjiram. Later, police contacted his family members who said Shivjiram had gone to Nalchha to settle land deal.

During the investigation, police came to know that he had dispute with two brothers named Manak Patel and Pawan Patel of Bagdi, Nalchha. He had gone to Nachha to appear before tehsildar. Later, police examined the CCTVs installed at a toll plaza near Methwara village. Police took help of cyber cell Mhow to trace tower location of suspects.

Betma police station incharge Dhirendra Pal Singh Chouhan also collected information from the people when he came to know about abduction of Shivjiram. After taking information about the bike used in the crime, police team reached Nalchha to detain suspects Manak and Pawan.  Police arrested Manak Patel from his residence in Bagri village. Following information provided by Manak, police later arrested Pawan from near Mittal Hospital in Dhar.

Both the accused first tried to mislead police and didn’t give information. On Friday morning, police recovered body of Shivjiram from behind a house on Jhalaria-Methwara Road. He was killed after being attacked with a heavy object.  During questioning, accused allegedly confessed their crime and told police that they had a dispute over land with Shivjiram since 2011.

Shivjiram was returning from Nalchha when the accused followed him and abducted him from near Peerpipliya village. They took him to farm of Vajpayee Group where they killed him attacking with brick and stone behind a house.  Police claimed that they arrested accused within 24 hours of crime. Senior Superintendent of Police Ruchi Vardhan Mishra has announced cash reward for team for solving the case.
