Indore: Divisional commissioner Akash Tripathi on Saturday said Kanh river will be visible in one year. He directed Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) to carry out river’s conservation work by fixing weekly targets. He expressed anguish over river records missing from collector office. He instructed ADM Kailash Wankhede to fix the responsibility for missing records.
The commissioner held a meeting to review the ongoing conservation work of Kanh and Sarawati river at his office on Saturday. The meeting was attended by IMC commissioner Asheesh Singh, ADM Kailash Wankhede, IDA CEO Vivek Shrotriya, joint commissioner Sapna Shivale among others.
At the meeting, Tripathi said he will inspect the work and hold a meeting on the spot. “Since both rivers are rain-fed, it is a challenge for us to ensure that water flows throughout the year. He also inquired about river’s catchment area, water recharge system in Bilawali and Pipaliyapala ponds.
Besides, Tripathi directed to revive stop dams on Kanh river. IMC Commissioner gave information about the work plan. ADM Kailash Wankhede informed about encroachment on Bilawali and Pipaliyapala ponds. It was decided to clearly mark the edges up to 30 metres on either side of river in red so that it can be protected.
River’sdemarcation will be done through geo-tagging. A decision was also taken to plant saplings along the river bank. IMC Commissioner informed about the progress of nullah tapping work. He said basic work of river conservation would be done under AMRUT scheme while its beautification would be done under Smart City project.
