Indore: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC), the biggest government recruitment agency in the state, has failed to adhere to the recruitment calendar for year 2019 leaving many candidates on tenterhooks. The commission has already missed time-lines for three important examinations, including state service exam-2019, and it is in no position to tell when things could be set right.
MPPSC had released recruitment calendar-2019 (also called examination and interview calendar) on December 31 giving schedules for notifications, examinations, interviews and results. As per the calendar, notifications for three major examinations including state service, state forest service and state engineering services would be issued in the first two months of year 2019.
According to the calendar, the notifications for state service exam and state forest service exam was to be issued in January and preliminary exams would be held in April whereas notification for state engineering services was to be issued in February and exam be held in May. But the notifications have not been issued till date. Delay in notifications is certainly going to hit examinations.
“If notifications were not issued before the model code conduct comes into being for Lok Sabha elections, then MPPSC will not be able to release them till poll code is lifted. That means that the exams which are to be held in April and May will not be held before October,” said Amit Mishra, a candidate preparing for state service exam.
As per poll pundits, the poll code could come into effect by mid-March and be lifted in May end after government is formed. When contacted, an MPPSC official wishing anonymity stated that they are in talks with state government over some technical issues.
“As soon as the issues are addressed, we will issue notification at least for state service exam,” he said. However, the officer could not confirm that the notification will be released before mid- March. If notification could not be issued before poll codes comes into being then the entire recruitment calendar would be messed up.
The preliminary exams would not be held before October and main exam would stretch to next year which could make many candidates standing on the verge of their last attempt. They may be over-aged next year.
