Indore: Urban development and housing minister Jaivardhan Singh said here on Saturday said that Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) of Indore is better than that of Bhopal and that efforts would be to make it more relevant but suddenly he had to change his tune when reminded about adverse comment by his cabinet colleague Sajjan Singh Verma on the corridor.

During his first visit to the city after assuming charge as minister, Singh talking to reporters stated that Indore’s BRTS is comparatively far better than that of on in the state’s capital. “Around 60,000 people use BRTS corridor every day in Indore. That’s a big figure,” he said adding that he would make sure that the corridor is made more convenient.

“May be we will make sure that feeders roads connected to BRTS are used more or think of brining other city buses also on the BRTS route,” Singh said counting on different options they are considering to make it more convenient. However, Singh was reminded that PWD minister Sajjan Singh Verma comment that Indore’s BRTS should be uprooted as it is failed project, the former said that Verma is a senior minister and there is nothing wrong if discussion is done on feasibility of the corridor. Singh then went one step ahead and said that he would ask MLAs and corporators to conduct a survey in their respective areas to known public opinion on the corridor. “We will go by the public opinion on BRTS issue,” he added.
