Indore: A team of Crime Branch officials and Tejaji Nagar police station on Monday surrounded and arrested an illegal arms smuggler after receiving a tip-off here on Monday.
He was active in border areas of Indore. More than a dozen cases of of murder, attempt to murder, illegal alcohol, loot, kidnapping, fraud and arms act are allegedly registered against him, police said.
Speaking to the Free Press, ASP Crime Branch, Amrendra Singh said that the accused,Praveen, son of Prakash Pawar, 45, a resident of Telikheda Mhow was found to be involved in a number of crimes and the police was long looking for him.
On Monday, police received a tip-off that the accused was supposed to be near Ralamandal Sanctuary area. Police team barricaded the area and caught him.
12-bore country made pistol and one live cartridge was recovered from his possession.
Singh said that the accused was in close contact with Sikligars from Dhamnod and Singhana. It was said that he was also in touch with Gopal Joshi gang. A case under 25, 27 of the Arms Act was also registered against him.
Police were further investigating into the case and launched a manhunt to nab others who were dealing with him.
