Indore: IIT-I, IIM-I, SGSITS selected for GIAN courses

Indore: Three leading engineering and management institutions of Indore are among eight institutions of Madhya Pradesh, which have been selected by Ministry of Human Resource Development for offering courses under Global Initiate of Academic Networks (GIAN) initiative of Central government.

GIAN in higher education is a new programme aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs, internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of higher education in India so as to augment the country’s existing academic resources, accelerate pace of quality reform, and elevate India’s scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.

Under GIAN programme, lectures by internationally and nationally renowned experts are being arranged to garner the best international experience into our systems of education, enable interaction of students and faculty with best academic and industry experts from all over the world and share their experiences and expertise to motivate people to work on Indian problems.

From March 5 to December end, a total of 93 courses would be offered by different institutions of higher learning across the country. Of them, 8 courses would be offered by four institutions of Madhya Pradesh including three from Indore and one from Sagar.

The institutions of the city, which will offer courses include Indian Institute of Technology Indore, Indian Institute of Management Indore and Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS).

While IIT Indore would offer three courses, SGSITS and IIM Indore would offer two and one course respectively. Hari Sing Gour Vishwavidyalaya (Sagar) would also offer one GIAN course.
