Indore: Nearly four years after shutting down its campus in Dubai, Indian Institute of Management Indore has made a fresh start in the UAE again, this time with its flagship General Management Programme for Executives (GMPE).
The IIM Indore on Friday launched the programme, which is for professionals working in UAE stating that more such courses will follow.
“The 22-day comprehensive programme is designed and delivered in association with Anisuma Training Institute. The duration of the programme is over eight months,” a press release issued by the b-school said.
“This programme is designed to inculcate strong conceptual frameworks in business and management skills by judiciously mixing classroom contact with group discussions and networking with practical frameworks, which can be applied at workplace,” the release added.
The programme will be delivered on weekends (Friday-Saturday) every month on pre-announced dates in Dubai. All the sessions will be face-to-face with IIM Indore faculty members who will be flying from India to conduct the programme.
The last module (5 days) of the programme will be delivered at the IIM Indore campus in India.
“IIM Indore is delighted to launch the GMPE in Dubai. With double crown of AMBA and AACSB accreditations, IIM Indore is constantly evolving to create and disseminate world-class executive education to industry.
In partnership with Anisuma, we will launch several contextually relevant programmes in this region to create future leaders and entrepreneurs,” said Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore.
He further said world of business is constantly evolving, and for career-enhancement it is imperative to stay on top by understanding and applying those changes. “This is where mid-career education is not just important but sometimes necessary.”
In 2011, the IIM Indore had started its study centre at Ras-al-Khaimah (RAK) in the UAE with PGPMX course. The following year, the institute had introduced PGP course becoming the only IIM in the country to go abroad with IIMs’ main common programme. But the institute did not get desired response from students there.
In 2014, the institute shifted the centre from RAK to Dubai stating that it would get more students in commercial capital of UAE. The institute failed to attract students even in Dubai. Citing unforeseen reasons, IIM Indore had closed its Dubai centre with last class being held in July 2015.
