Indore: Hundreds take part in rath yatra despite rain

The International Krishna Consciousness Association (ISKCON) took out a rath yatra from the Dwadash Jyotirlinga temple Shivdham in Pardeshipura. The journey reached La Omni Garden located in Vijay Nagar via Pardeshipura Square, Patnipura Square, Anoop Talkies, Bhamori.

On lines of Jagannathpuri, the gaiety of Lord Jagannath rath yatra festival was celebrated in the city on Friday. After following the corona protocol for two years, this time rath yatra was taken out from many places in Indore. Jagannath rath yatra is considered as the most auspicious and religious festival of the year in the country.

In this Lord Jagannath, Subhadra and Balarama appeared in the chariot. The journey started from Pardeshipura, passing through Gumashta Nagar and Yeshwantganj. Hundreds of devotees participated in this procession.

The International Krishna Consciousness Association (ISKCON) took out a rath yatra from the Dwadash Jyotirlinga temple Shivdham in Pardeshipura. The journey reached La Omni Garden located in Vijay Nagar via Pardeshipura Square, Patnipura Square, Anoop Talkies, Bhamori. Devotees and saints associated with the ISKCON temple of the country and abroad took part in the yatra while performing bhajan kirtans. The devotees were walking, dragging the 51 feet high hydraulic chariot with their hands. The yatra was started by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Bhanpura Peethadheeshwar Swami Gyananand Teerth and other saints in the presence of Swami Mahamandas, President of ISKCON Indore. Yatra in-charge Hari Aggarwal said that before the rath yatra, three deities were placed on the ISKCON temple chariots at Nipania.

The third-largest rath yatra with Govinda Govinda's 'Maha Jai Jai Kar' came out from Pavansiddha Dham Shrilakshmi-Venkatesh Devasthan Chhatribagh. During the rath yatra, even in the rain, the crowd of devotees thronged to have the divine darshan of the Lord. Lord Venkatesh was visible in the heart and eyes of every devotee.

The message for progress of the country was also given prominently in the religious journey. In the rath yatra, an appeal to protect the cow mother and keep the city clean was made to the devotees.
