There was no relief for residents from scorching heat as mercury hovered over 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Officials of regional meteorological department said hot winds will blow in coming days and the temperature is likely to increase further. Meanwhile, doctors have also appealed to people to take care of children while going out as they have weak immunity. The health department has also issued an advisory for people to prevent heat stroke.
On Wednesday, city recorded maximum temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius, which was one degree above normal while night temperature remained two degrees above normal at 21.6 degrees Celsius. “Winds blowing in north-east direction will take its toll on night temperature and heat waves coming from neighbouring states can push up the temperature in coming days,” a department official said. The humidity recorded on Wednesday morning was 34 per cent and 27 per cent in evening.
One more dies of swine flu, toll 57
Even when city’s temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius mark, the deadly swine flu continued to claim lives. One more patient succumbed to disease on Wednesday. With this, the total number of H1N1 deaths rose to 57. Nodal officer of IDSP Dr Santosh Sisodiya said 65-year-old woman, resident of Mhow Naka, succumbed to disease on Wednesday at Bombay Hospital. She was admitted to hospital on March 30 and her samples tested positive on April 3. Total number of positive patients in Indore has reached 194 this year.
