Indore: Unlike April and May, June provided much-needed relief to the people as the positivity rate in the month remained below 1 per cent which was the lowest since the inception of the pandemic disease.
The highest number of samples was also tested in the month i.e. over 2.92 lakh. In all, 48 patients lost the fight against the disease.
When going through numbers, June was the best month in terms of the number of infected COVID patients as 2,668 positive cases were reported, which was the third-lowest. Surprisingly, June 2020 had seen the lowest number of cases but the positivity rate was above 2.4 per cent.
“Unlocking was started from June 1 after two months of lockdown but the number of cases kept decreasing which is a good sign. The main reason behind the same is vaccination as people are showing enthusiasm to get the jab and over 75 per cent of the people above 18 years have been vaccinated with the first dose of the disease,” COVID nodal officer Dr Amit Malakar said.
He added that even when cases are decreasing, people must follow the norms to avoid such situations again.
Meanwhile, nodal officer of Maa Ahilya COVID Care Centre Dr Anil Dongre said, “April was the worst month but May was comparatively better and condition in June was the best as the rate of positivity dropped below 1 per cent.”
“People should follow the norms strictly and must get early treatment to avoid any untoward situation,” Dr Dongre added.
