Indore: Health department to review lease of trusts, hospitals

Indore: State health department will review the lease conditions of hospitals and trusts, which have taken government land for setting up health care facilities. The department plans to take back land from those not providing facilities to patients. Talking to Free Press on sidelines of Samvad Programme, health minister Tulsiram Silawat on Sunday said his department will review lease documents of hospitals and trusts and will act accordingly. “If organisations are not following the norms or are not providing facility to patients, then we will take back the land,” he said. He also directed officials to present documents of Cancer Care Trust, Indore, which has 12-acre land in Rau but is not providing facilities for patients’ welfare.

“We will review record of trust and will develop a state level cancer hospital centre there. We are capable of running cancer hospital and will recruit staff if required,” Silawat said. Silawat who emphasised on cleanliness said water tanks of government hospitals were cleaned for the first time on his direction. “Along with better facilities, we are also focusing on ways to prevent diseases, especially by maintaining hygiene in hospitals,” Silawat said. He said he will ensure better facilities for patients and will continue surprise inspection. Earlier, Silawat sought suggestions from local doctors on enhancing facilities in city.
