Indore : On the concluding day of the 56th annual gastroenterology conference, ISGCON 2015, several medicos raised their concern over poor standard of medical education in the City and its effect on the treatment.
Padmashree Dr Ranbir Sood from Gurgaon said, “Indore lacks proper medical education as most of the experts, who are serving in renowned city medical centers belong to other cities. It is one of the major reasons why surgeries here are not being performed in the hospitals having advanced facilities.”
Dr Sood said in order to improve medical education, colleges should be offered more seats for MD and other specialization courses. Also, students should be provided with ambience and proper facilities.
“Foreign doctors are doing research on variety of subjects to make health facilities better but our doctors are not involved in this field. The availability of experts can help us deal with it. Those who specialize in particular areas are busy with regular treatment and therefore they don’t have time to focus on research and new ideas,” he added.
Dr SK Issar from Bhilai also agreed to it while informing that physicians are being aware of taking patients to gastro experts. However, India lacks enough gastro experts.
The experts also discussed on important aspects of advanced endoscopy techniques, its benefits in liver transplantation.
The major highlight was role of robots in multitasking endoscopy platform, third space endoscopy and interventional ultrasound endoscopy.
