Indore: Taking a dig at vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Tea-chers Association (DEVTA) secretary Laxman Shinde on Wednesday said VC did not give time to meet a delegation of teachers who went to hand him over a memorandum for demand of seventh pay scale.

“Pakore-kachori khate rahe, shikshakon ko milne ka samay nahi diya (was relishing pakore-kachori but did not give time to teachers),” reads a post by Shinde on DAVV Updates (a WhatsApp group) comprising media persons, university staffers and student leaders.

The VC is also a member of the group.  In his second post, Shinde without naming Dhakad sought to known when they will get rid of (perhaps, Dhakad). “Hame chhutkara kab milega?” he asked. A reporter on the group replied, “When everybody wants (to get rid of the VC).” After this, Shinde posted a request on group, “Work for teachers’ well-being.”

A group of teachers had gone to hand over a memorandum to vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad when he was at Educational Multimedia Research Centre on the UTD campus on Tuesday. The VC did not come out of EMRC administrative office to receive the memorandum and thus the teachers had to return disappointed.

The matter was being discussed on DAVV Updates group where Shinde shared the incident and shot to limelight. Student leaders and reporters commented on the posts by Shinde but the university staffers maintained silence. Some members even joked about the VC but he did not mind or perhaps did not read the posts. DAVV executive council member Alok Dawar also spoke about the VC. He stated that the VC does not listen to anybody.

Shinde is cross with VC

As per reports, Shinde doesn’t get along well with the VC as the latter had removed him as head of School of Languages one-and-a-half- years ago. Following the development, Shinde had lodged a complaint against VC with Chancellor. Since then, both of them are not on talking terms.

Dhakad said delegation of teachers had come to meet him without appointment. “I was with a person who had taken appointment with me. How I could have taken excuse from him to meet the teachers?” he said.
