Indore: Union ministry of health and family welfare has given an in-principle approval to Government College of Dentistry, Indore, to start three new post graduate courses. The ministry has also issued letter of intent to the college for nine seats in three post graduate courses.

While issuing the letter, Centre has asked college to submit an undertaking from state government that the latter has granted approval for new seats. Government College of Dentistry principal Dr Deshraj Jain confirmed receiving letter of intent from the government. “We have submitted undertaking from state government,” he said, and added that college will soon get permission from Centre and Dental Council of India to start three PG courses in 2019-20 session.

The only government dental college of the state had applied for three MDS courses including oral medicine and radiology, oral pathology and microbiology, and paedodontics and preventive dentistry. The college administration had sought three seats in each course for 2019-20 session.

Earlier, Dental Council of India had asked the college to submit documents like its annual reports of 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, audited balance sheets for 2016-17, certified copy of title deeds of total available land as a proof of ownership, zoning plans of available sites, indicating their land use certified by principal, letter from associated hospital and authorisation letter addressed to bankers of the applicant authorising the central government/Dental Council of India to make independent inquiries regarding applicant’s financial track record.

“We don’t have to worry about balance sheets and title deeds as it is a government college while the letter by the superintendent has already been given along with authorisation of inquiry,” Dr Jain said.

College has to furnish following documents
