Indore: The forest guard who had raised a complaint against state tourism minister Usha Thakur was suspended by the department on Friday, for allegedly providing forged documents at the time of his promotion, 7 to 8 years ago. The forest guard Ramsuresh Dubey alleged that he has been suspended at the behest of the minister.

What is surprising is that the issue of forged documents surfaced following a complaint at CM Helpline, and it was acted upon, even though it pertained to 2012-13.

Dubey had first made headlines, when he played the role of a whistleblower and complained to the police on January 12, 2021 against Thakur.

In his complaint, he had alleged that Thakur and her supporters had forcibly taken away a heavy-duty earth extraction JCB machine and a tractor-trolley on January 11 night that had been seized during illegal stone and soil mining in a reserved forest area.

Dubey’s complaint against Thakur and her supporters was not registered by the police but the forest minister was forced to constitute a high-level inquiry headed by a Principal Chief Conservator of Forest level officer as the opposition raised the issue.

The minister was upset with this and even forest minister Vijay Shah had commented, “Some forest officials are over-enthusiastic and overplaying on small incidents, which are common in the state."

Failure to find encroachments, finally suspended for forging documents

As per the sources and claims made by Dubey, the department had been looking for a reason to suspend him since the incident. He was also transferred in January following the issue from Mhow range to Chaparia forest area of Manpur, even though he was on the investigation team!

Dubey claimed that the officials had been looking for a reason to suspend him and a team of 14 officials went around inspecting Badgonga and Pipliya forest ranges under him to find any encroachments, which would have given the department an excuse to suspend him. However, they did not find anything. They continued looking for a reasons and finally suspended him for forging documents submitted during his promotion.

“A complaint was made by Mukesh Yadav on CM Helpline. Before the lockdown, SDO (sub divisional officer) submitted a report against Dubey, so he was suspended citing forging of documents that were submitted,” Narendra Pandya, divisional forest officer, said.
