Irate over myriad complaints against private hospitals, health department and district administration have been planning to fix the charges taken by hospitals to treat patients. In a review meeting on Saturday, Divisional Commissioner Akash Tripathi has directed the health officials to prepare certain guidelines on the fees and charges taken by the private hospitals for treating the patients.
“Officials must prepare some guidelines to control the charges taken by the private hospitals. Along with inspecting the hospitals, health department must act over the same as well,” Tripathi said. Representatives of private hospitals were also present in the review meeting and were directed to follow the ethics over business.
Meanwhile, three deaths were reported in the last three days with the deadly swine flu with which the death toll reached 43, so far. The number of positive patients has also increased as four more patients have been tested positive on Saturday which raised the number to 156, since January 1.
“A 29-year-old female of Agar district, admitted to Apple Hospital on March 19, succumbed to the disease on March 22 while a 61-year-old male patient of Limbodi in Indore, admitted to MY Hospital on March 16, succumbed to the disease on March 19,” Integrated Diseases Surveillance Program In-charge Dr Santosh Sisodiya said. He also informed about the death of a 60-year-old female of Limbodi in MY Hospital on March 21, who was reported positive on March 11.
