City crime branch arrested five persons from Ujjain while they were carrying 30 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs 8 lakh on Tuesday. They were arrested from two different places and they had a plan to sell cannabis. The accused are being questioned for other suppliers in Indore and Ujjain.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh, a team of crime branch along with Bhanwarkuan police were deployed at IT Park Square to check the vehicles and another team was deployed near Gulzaar Chowki on Manikbagh Road. The team deployed on IT Park stopped a Swift car in which three persons were sitting. During search, a bag containing 10 packets of cannabis from their car was recovered.

The accused identified as Jitendra alias Jitu Bundela, a resident of Mohan Nagar Ujjain, Sandeep Sharma of Nana Khdea in Ujjain and Sachin alias Lav Chopra of Namak Mandi Ujjain could not produce documents of car. The accused were booked under Section 8/20 of NDPS Act by Bhanwarkuan police.

Another team arrested two persons carrying cannabis in a WagonR car. The accused who tried to flee were arrested after long chase. Accused Sunil Rathore and Akshay Bodhile of Ujjain had hidden the cannabis under seat to mislead police. They accused were also booked under NDPS Act.

Accused told police that he used to supply cannabis in Ujjain. He came to know that he can get good price in Indore, a reason he started selling the drug in Indore. Jitendra is a criminal and he was earlier booked by Ujjain police for attempt to murder, murder, betting and assault case there.

He along with relatives Sandeep and friend Lav came to city to supply cannabis. Accused Sandeep was also booked by the police for his involvement in criminal activities.  Accused Sachin told police that he worked as delivery man with Amazon but left job to supply cannabis with friend Jitendra. Further investigation is on.
