Indore: Five more succumb to swine flu

The number of patients succumbing to swine flu is increasing alarmingly in the city as five more deaths were reported on Friday.  The efforts of health department seem to be in vain as the deadly disease’s menace is still not controlled.  The department officials claimed that the one deceased belonged to other district and four patients were from Indore.

According to Integrated Diseases Surveillance Program in-charge Dr Santosh Sisodiya, “A 55-year-old male, a resident of Indore, succumbed to the disease at CHL Hospital on Tuesday while he was admitted in the hospital on March 19 and as the sample was sent after his death, he was tested positive on Thursday.

Similarly, a 49-year-old male, a resident of Indore, fell to the disease in CHL Hospital on Thursday and a 48-year-old female resident of Indore, succumbed to the disease on Friday morning at Bombay Hospital. Another 57-year-old male, a resident of Dhar was admitted on Tuesday at Greater Kailash Hospital and died on early Friday morning. A 48-year-old male, resident of Indore succumbed to the disease on Thursday at CHL Hospital”  With the new deaths, toll in the city reached 50 while the number of positive patients reached to 175, since January 1.
