Indore: Twenty-three people had a miraculous escape as a major fire broke out in Hotel Samrat on MG Road, late on Thursday evening. Swift reaction by police and fire brigade prevented any loss of life.

The fire broke out in the four-storey hotel building around 7:45 pm. At that time three to four families were staying in it. The situation worsened as smoke spread into various floors posing a challenge to police and fire brigade. Fire fighters had to break window glasses to rescue people.

No casualty was reported. However, three people were rushed to a hospital after their condition deteriorated due to inhalation of smoke.

Police station in-charge of Tukoganj Tehzeeb Qazi led the rescue operation from the front. He suffered injuries while trying to break window glasses on the second floor of the hotel.
