Indore: The theme of Fools’ Day seems to be dominating politics as well. Fake lists containing names of candidates for Lok Sabha election was floated a day back, which spread like wild fire on social media platforms. Though list reached Indore little late, some people noticed the mischief on basis of date of release. Many such lists are regularly being released to fool people.
Social media memes and fake statements of politicians is another April Fools’ Day trend. With many such fake statements and lists trending, it is easy for people to believe them. Not just for a day, there are chances that people will be fooled by prank posts till election gets over.
Don’t be fooled
“Mischievous people spread fake lists just to have fun. However, these lists can be misleading. People should understand that these are rumours. One should not allow themselves to be fooled by these posts. The lists are released by parties, officially. People should confirm about such lists from the party spokesperson. People can check and put a stop to such fake news.”
Gopi Krishna Nema, city BJP president
Conmen, any takers?
“There are many such posts, which fool people. People should understand that any official announcement is directly made the party and is floated through official channels. With the power of social media, these statements are floating quickly across the country. This is the con side of having social media. People should check authenticity of news before forwarding it.”
