Have you been experiencing unscheduled power cuts recently? It’s time to send a complaint and demand action as Vikas Narwal, managing director, MP West Zone Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (west discom) announced that unscheduled power cuts will be acted upon by the company. He made the announcement at a press conference here on Wednesday.
“There are scheduled and unscheduled power cuts. Scheduled ones are to be informed to people before 24 hours via newspapers,” Narwal said. Development of infrastructure and projects are cause behind scheduled power cuts. “Unscheduled power cuts can happen once in a month due to various reasons. But there is no shortage of electricity and if unscheduled power cuts are affecting any area more than once, they will be acted upon,” Narwal said.
When asked how will west discom handle the conflict with Indore Municipal Corporation, which refuses to pick up residual and trees fallen due to wire changes, he said efforts are on to work out a solution. To a query that 10,000 streetlights remain on even during the day, Narwal said matter will be solved in three to six months.
When asked whether discom plans to provide safety gear to linemen, he said he will ensure that every person who climbs the electricity pole is trained. “In case of accident, we will act sensitively and help the personnel’s family,” he said.
