Is this divine intervention or gross human misjudgement? There is a fresh twist to the murder case of a person “whose” body was “unearthed” in front of Vijay Nagar police station a few days ago. Police came to know that the man, who was being considered as deceased, is now alive. He was later traced by the police but the body found could not be identified till Friday night.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh Chouhan said the body that was found buried on the land in front of Vijay Nagar police station on March 20, 2019 was thought to be that of Baggaram after his father Devaram had identified the mortal remains on that day. Devaram had assured the police that it was his son’s body. Dewaram had also informed police that the shoes recovered from the spot were gifted by him to his son a few days ago. Since then Baggaram was being considered as deceased.
During investigation it was found that Baggaram was spotted fighting with his sister and brother-in-law a few days before the incident. Police were searching for his sister and her husband in connection with the murder case as they were missing after the incident. The truth came to light when a police team reached in Pali, Rajasthan after a tip off that the suspects were seen there. However, Baggaram’s sister and her husband were not there but the police team was informed by a person that Baggaram is alive and he returned to Indore after staying there for couple of days ago.
Police team returned to the city and managed to trace Baggaram from near Ravidas Temple in Vijay Nagar on Friday. Baggaram said he was unaware about body found and about his father’s statement given to the police. Police said that Baggaram was found but the identification of the body could not be established till Friday late. The role of Baggaram’s father Devaram is also being investigated as he had “identified” the deceased as his son and misled the police. Baggarma’s sister and her husband were still untraceable and a search is on for them. Police believed that the deceased was a relative of Baggaram or associated with his community.
