Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV)’s UTD and RNT Marg campuses will be opened from Tuesday but vice-chancellor Prof Renu Jina won’t be meeting any students and other visitors for nearly a month.
She has taken that decision to avoid the spread of any type of coronavirus infection in her office. Only senior officers can meet her.
Not only this, there won’t be any direct communication between officials and students. A special window will be created on the RNT Marg campus for taking applications from students.
Collector Manish Singh has allowed the opening of education institutions with only 50 per cent of staff. So, only 50 per cent of the staff will report to duty, that too, those who have been taken Covid-19 vaccine shots.
With these restrictions, the university will open so that exams of final year/semester students can be conducted. In a virtual meeting with officials, Jain directed officials to complete preparation of UG and PG final year/semester at the earliest so that exams can be conducted in third week of June.
She left it up to the heads of teaching departments to decide which employees of UTD are to be called for duty. The last time this 50 per cent staff formula was implemented, the employees were called on rotation.
