Indore: Close on the heels of Indore electing the country’s lone MP from Sindhi community, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya on Thursday approved syllabus for starting MA in Sindhi Language from session 2019-20.
The standing committee of the university nodded the syllabus prepared by board of studies. School of Comparative Languages will run the course.
There has been a long standing demand by Sindhi community people for starting the course in Sindhi language. Members of Sindhu Peeth at DAVV have also recommended for starting the programme.
However, the initiative was taken only after Shankar Lalwani was elected as Member of Parliament from Indore seat. He is the lone MP from Sindhi community to have got ticket to contest the election and won.
After he was elected the MP, the DAVV administration put forth a proposal to start MA (Sindhi) programme before Planning and Evolution Board. After its approval, the DAVV’s Executive Council also approved the course. DAVV will be the only university in the state to offer MA (Sindhi).
